A few of the local businesses and organisations we’ve worked with

Vocation Brewery

At the start of lockdown, local brewery Vocation found demand for its home delivery service soaring. When it began offering same-day local delivery too, fulfilling the orders became a serious challenge.

During this busiest period, we were able to add extra capacity to their delivery service. Although we can’t carry as much beer in one go as a van, we could still take 4-6 cases in one run, and by picking up deliveries in remote back-lane locations we greatly reduced the time their vehicle spent on the road.

Valley Organics

A Hebden Bridge institution, Valley Organics is a wholefoods shop with a thriving side-line in locally-sourced organic veg boxes. We’ve delivered up to sixty veg boxes per day for them, freeing up the shop’s electric van for deliveries further afield. Our bikes are quick and efficient around town, and it’s never a problem to find parking for them.

Calder Community Cares

A volunteer organisation formed in response to the pandemic, Calder Community Cares used our bikes for food parcel drops and welfare visits. Making bikes available to volunteers who didn’t have access to a car meant that visits could be carried out more efficiently, and the volunteers got to spend more time with households.

HebTroCo

Since starting in 2015, HebTroCo have built up a reputation for top quality UK-made clothing. As part of their commitment to supporting local, they’ve always shipped all their orders via the Hebden Bridge post office. We pick up their parcels, drop them off, and save them a journey into the centre of Hebden at peak traffic jam time. Ed also gets to ride his motorbike into work, instead of driving a van!

Curators of Craft

Curators of Craft is a new mail-order business selling hand-picked craft beers, using Cargodale to deliver to local customers. The unusual angle of bike delivery interested a writer and photographer for the Times, and led to a photo story that showed us making a local beer run.

The result was a feature in the Times’ “The Week In Pictures section” and some great national coverage for both businesses.

Great Rock Co-Op

High on the moors, Great Rock can claim to be the Calder Valley’s most scenically-located shop. It links small local producers to a loyal customer base, many of whom live in nearby hilltop communities. After the shop shifted to online sales at the start of the pandemic, we’ve delivered, regardless of wind, rain, or snow.
